Course Syllabus

The Faculty Support Center Instructional Design team is happy to provide you with information about the college syllabus. It is designed to help you with the resources needed to successfully develop course syllabi that meet both college, student, and your needs.

The syllabus is the most important course document that exists. It serves as both a legal contract as well as a course map, student support element, and a marketing tool for your instructional content. This makes it a complex document that requires some finesse.

This LibGuide shows the evolution of the syllabus, outlines best practices derived through empirical research, and provides practical guidance for writing a syllabus that is understandable and useful to students from all walks of life.

Please let the instructional designer know about additional resource materials that can be added to this site. We encourage user contributions as our collective skills and knowledge grow and as our needs at Cochise College evolve.
