Teaching Asynchronous Online Courses

The Path to Asynchronous Course Changes

It's a Process...

Any conversation about course changes is best approached through your Division Dean and/or Chairperson. This is especially true if you are teaching in a multi-section situation. Once your academic leadership has approved your plans, the Instructional Designer is happy to assist. Course development goes through a systematic, backwards-designed, ADDIE-informed process to ensure optimal quality for student success.

QM - Quality Matters

The instructional designer will also ensure that the course is aligned with the Quality Matters Online Course Standards - with eight major principles and various sub-categories that lend themselves to effective online courses. QM concerns itself with course content rather than delivery. It is a faculty-centered, peer review process designed to certify the quality of online courses. QM is a leader in quality assurance for online education and has received national recognition for its peer-based approach to continuous improvement in online education and student learning. While Cochise College does not currently offer nor sponsor QM certification, we are an active participant in the AZ QM Consortium.
