The Faculty Support Center Instructional Design team is happy to provide you with information about teaching hybrid face-to-face and online courses. It is designed to help you with the resources needed to successfully develop and lead hybrid courses that meet both college, student, and your needs.

The hybrid course has a variety of different approaches. You may hear references to blended learning or flipped classrooms and these are generally the two major categories of hybrid teaching. We recommend a flipped classroom approach since this makes the best use of synchronous face-to-face time.

This LibGuide shows the characteristics of hybrid instruction, outlines best practices derived through empirical research, and provides practical guidance for flipping your classroom that is useful for all kinds of faculty, as this also works well in fully in person courses.

Please let the instructional designer know about additional resource materials that can be added to this site. We encourage user contributions as our collective skills and knowledge grow and as our needs at Cochise College evolve.
