The Faculty Support Center Instructional Design team is happy to provide you with information about teaching synchronous virtual courses. It is designed to help you with the resources needed to successfully develop and lead online courses that meet both college, student, and your needs.

The synchronous virtual course is perhaps one of the most challenging types of classes to execute well. It relies on a well-equipped teaching space, working technology, and a repertoire of ways to keep people engaged and on-task with you and other classmates who are all in remote locations.

This LibGuide shows the characteristics of synchronous virtual courses, outlines best practices derived through empirical research, and provides practical guidance for teaching in real time in a distributed space that is useful for all kinds of faculty.

Please let the instructional designer know about additional resource materials that can be added to this site. We encourage user contributions as our collective skills and knowledge grow and as our needs at Cochise College evolve.
