Teaching Synchronous Virtual Courses

This guide is designed to help you with the information and tools you will need to teach in the Synchronous Course Modality at Cochise College.

Where To Find the Cochise College Annotated Course Template

Cochise College Annotated Course Template

While synchronous courses do not rely heavily on Moodle as a rule, it is required that each course have an open online Moodle site with a syllabus uploaded and that you use the Moodle gradebook. We suggest using Moodle as the primary assessment and assignment turn in tool to avoid losing date stamped submissions. We also suggest that synchronous coursework be supplemented with well-organized Moodle repositories.

Everybody is welcome to use the college-provided annotated online course template for faculty use. This incorporates all Quality Matters standards and provides a course set up that is maximized to help asynchronous learners access materials in a systematic and intuitive manner. This, along with course delivery that is focused on instructor presence and community building, can go a long way in providing optimal asynchronous learning environments. Please ask a member of the Moodle team to provide you with a course template shell sandbox you can work in.
